The technology operates with low and stable emission levels, a result of a highly controlled process
The thermal conversion is carried in two stages:
Stage one: primary chamber where gasification of the waste takes place to produce a synthetic gas
Stage two: secondary chamber where the synthetic gas is oxidised at a high temperature.
This highly controlled two-stage process two-stage process enables a simple dry flue gas treatment system to be employed and eliminates the need for a sophisticated and costly end of pipe flue-gas treatment system.
Flexibility: The process can treat a wide range of waste materials with different compositions for example, municipal solid waste (MSW), industrial waste, residual MSW, solid recovered fuel (SRF)/ refuse derived fuel (RDF) and commercial wastes.
SCALABILITY AND FLEXIBILITY

The scalability and flexibility of the design enables the delivery of plants that can be part of an integrated waste management strategy; combined with kerbside recycling collections and/or an efficient Materials Recycling Facility (MRF).

A combination of different gasifier and boiler sizes enables the configuration of the plant; accommodates the fuel processing capacities and energy output required by the customer, whilst maintaining a standardised module-based design.

The plant can be built to various configurations with options for high calorific value and mixed waste streams.

The modularity of the design facilitates future expansion if and when it is needed, without discouraging recycling.

Plants can be delivered on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) agreement.

The buildings have small footprints and low rooflines so they do not dominate the skyline.
MODULAR SYSTEM
The plants are built using standard modules, with one or more processing lines in parallel. This allows us to provide a plant that meets our customer’s requirements, in terms of fuel processing capacity and energy production.
CAPACITY
The plant design is offered with two standard boiler capacity designs:

A Type 40 plant features a boiler with a nominal capacity of 13.5MW.

A Type 50 plant features a boiler with a nominal capacity of 16.4MW.
There are also two standard module sizes that relate to the fuel processing capacity of the gasifier. They have the nominal capacity to treat either 5 tonnes per hour or 6 tonnes per hour.
ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS

Low and stable Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions average NOx emissions typically 25-30% of the EU limit.

Low carbon content in the bottom ash, guaranteeing less than 3% TOC.

Independent leaching tests demonstrate that carbon leaching is only 10% of standard EfW processes.

A local solution offers minimised transportation and therefore reduced emissions from refuse vehicles.

OPERATIONAL BENEFITS
All energy from waste plants in Europe operate under a licence from the national environment agency. They must undergo third-party tests every six months in addition to continuous emission monitoring (CEM). The results of these tests show that our plants consistently operate at the level which are substantially lower than the emission limits given in the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) 2010/75/EU and complies with new BREF and BAT conclusions.

FINANCIAL BENEFITS

Energy recovered from the biomass content is not subject to the Climate Change Levy (CCL).
